My 3.5 amp Pi PSU gets all Blue lights going when plugged into the data port via the Pi and RTL_SDRtest reports all 4 units there.

However, the Power Port on the KSDR unit seems to be dead despite me trying 5 amp 5-volt dc Battery Also tried a Lab quality Power Supply set at 5.0 volts and 4 amps available. If I plug these same supplies into the Data Port of the KSDR the white light comes on. But not when switching it back to the power port. No white light and no current draw on the ammeter.

New Quality USB Cables too.

Thinking of buying an SDR and worried about how sensitive the equipment is?

I performed a cursory reading about SDR and what they are and what you use them for, I've come across a number of articles and posts about bricking and damaging them, which I'd rather not deal with.

Is there a way to protect the USB from harmful signals from antennas or shorts on USB ports?

Would like to get into SDR, but I don’t know, which receiver and antennas I should get.

I live next to a big telecom tower, with all sorts of antennas on top of it: cellular (GSM, 3G, 4G and soon 5G), DVB-T and a lot of microwave links. What stuff would you recommend under these circumstances?

NOAA_apt and WXtoIMG

Inputting an audio signal into noaa_apt makes a nice image without ( manual)slant correct But there are no options to get colour , when I input my audio into WXtiIMG I can correct it but never to the level noaa_apt gets it too , and when I input the processed image from noaa_apt to WXtoIMG to try and get colour it dosent work

Antennas • Re: Airspy YouLoop

I'm using one and it's OK considering my limitations. I'm in an apartment on the top floor with no balcony and I can't put anything outside so I have tried various baluns and lengths of wire running along my ceiling in my living room (I'm not married fortunately) before getting the YouLoop and it does drop the noise floor but it's not a DX antenna and my line of sight might as well be outer space so I haven't noticed much of a reception difference if any. I'm looking forward to the preamp release so I can see if there's an improvement though my expectations aren't high with the YouLoop taped to my living room window. I don't blame the antenna for its performance because my conditions are far from ideal.

If your living conditions have antenna limitations similar to mine then I recommend the YouLoop. Otherwise if you have the capability to have an outside antenna that would be the far better choice.

Looking for some advice on planning and wiring a circuit for a project, is this anyone's topic of interest and if so, might you like to discuss further over email? A bunch of gung-ho college students got themselves in a project [unrelated to school] way over their heads and would appreciate any advice for newbies :)

Sorry for the late response, our project was frozen for a while with COVID-19 shutting labs down and such. We're looking for mostly basic stuff that we could test for but are now unable. Some points included below:
  • no load current draw
  • max current
  • max rated power
  • power nominal
  • high/low supply voltages (no load and max load)

We're worried about overloading our equipment while putting the project together, all of us are new to circuit planning and want to take precautions before assembling. If you have this or more information readily available, it would be so appreciated! Nothing 'official' is needed at this time. Looking forward to your reply, stay well!
