Hard to listen to Airband

Haven't posted in a while, hopefully you haven't outlawed questions like these yet.

I'm trying to listen to local ATC and other aircraft. I picked up barely audible transmissions from a small airport almost 200 miles away last night, but I'm struggling to make out words on frequency. I have SDR# set to AM, and bandwidth around 1,000-5,000 works pretty well. But everything still comes out muffled, and some transmitters are off by a few thousand hertz, which makes my tuning extra difficult. I have the filter on BH7, and IF NR is set to -90dB with the Talk profile. I don't know what else I can do to increase my radio's ability to hear, and I don't currently have a laptop so I can't just go outside.

I have the large antenna bundled with the rtl-sdr.com blog v3, extended 65% of the way at a 30 degree angle to each other, pointing to the sky. Anything less than 30 degrees and I'd have to tighten the screws.

I'm hesitant to add my $10 FM notch filter since it attenuates signals right around airband.

What can I do to make it easier to hear airband transmissions?

Comment on Building An Open Source SDR Based Hydrogen Line Radio Telescope by Glen

Great Work! Have you seen the spiral arms of the Milky Way with your horn?

RTL-SDR Discussion • Re: Lots of activity on RF, is it all real?

The periodically repeating lines in the RF spectrum waterfall are extremely likely to be just noise from the electronics and power converters in your near vicinity, in the same room or building, or near your antenna. Computers, network equipment, LED lights and USB chargers, etc.

Comment on Triangulation of a VHF Signal with RTLSDR-Scanner by Hritik

The article has been removed. Find it here https://web.archive.org/web/20150419183434/https://theanatomize.blogspot.no/2014/07/locating-source-of-signal-with-rtl-sdr.html

Win SDR software optimized for touch interface?

Hello Reddit, I use both rtl-sdr and RSP1 clone on Windows machine, I use it with HDSDR and SDRUno apps. I plan to remotely connect from Android device using either Remote Desktop or TeamViewer to control receiver.

Now, my problem is that HDSDR and SDRUno aren't touch display optimized and its not very effective way to control it.

Are there any touch optimised Windows SDR cleints?

Are there any Windows SDR software that has Android app for remote control?

Thank you

Comment on SDRSharp Community Plugin Package Now Available by Robert

We continued the discussion about the decimation issue on reddit:

Seems to be a sample rate mismatch between SDR# and R820T driver.

First contact with noaa 18! Very good signal all the way to Sahara. Unfortunately sdr sharp decided it was time to crash and I had to use CubicSDR to listen. Using a nesdr smartee v2 and a quadrifilar antenna from my house
