Comment on RTL-SDR Tutorial: Decoding Inmarsat STD-C EGC Messages by microp11

Cool! If you don’t mind me asking, out of the ones you’ve tried, which SDR/software you found to be the most reliable? Would help me as well as a developer to know this. Much appreciated!

Comment on Fingerprinting Electronic Devices via their RF Emissions with an RTL-SDR and ImageMagick by Martin

How does this system deal with RF noise and interference? I imagine my neighbour mowing his lawn on the day I am trying to identify a device could make it difficult to find a match.

Not sure how innovative this is. There is hope yet for my article on how to detect water while out in a rain storm.

KerberosSDR • Re: Trouble running demo software?

Hi, I am facing the same problem. I cannot run the MMI after ./run.sh

With your new code, I saw the error message:

ImportError: No module named 'matplotlib'

Please advice. Thanks!

RSP1a on a Raspberry

Hey people,

I'm trying to figure out for myself if I want to upgrade my set-up from an RTL-SDR v3 to a SDRPlay RSP1a. The only thing I can't figure out is if I can just hook it up to my current Pi and use wxtoimg for example like I'm used to now?

I know SDRPlay has an image available for download with software, but I just want to keep it simple and use my own set of software.

Anyone here can tell me if I can just swap the RTL-SDR for the RSP1a without any hassle?

An SDR device that provides the raw data (complex samples)

Hi all, here is the deal. I would like to know if there is a Wi-Fi dongle (not exactly a dongle) that provides the raw data. In other words, I don't want the bits etc. I just want the Wi-Fi frame that is received. I need the samples of the full preamble (or at least the part that comes after Legacy fields), without Channel Equalization, Channel Decoding etc. Have you ever heard of such a device?

The first idea that comes to mind is to use USRPs (either X310 or mini-series), but I don't want to 'loose' time on it. Because the research that I want to do, is not in this part. However, in any case, I am open to suggestions for doing it with USRPs.

What I did with the USRPs so far:

I have two USRPs, one to transmit (tx) and one to receive (rx). I say 'transmit now' to tx, after 2 seconds, I say 'receive now' to rx. So, initially, I am ignoring the 'unknown' packet arrival time. I assume that I know that there will be packet which will be transmitted soon. Anyways, I do the correlation to find the start of the frame, and handle the rest accordingly.

Anyone have a reference to the script and procedure not behind a cookie and legal agreement terms?
