Comment on Testing for Spurious Signals on the Airspy HF+ Discovery by Timmy

So what radio are you recommending that has better sensitivity and that does not have an extra zero on the price tag ?

I’m looking at this list while I’m asking: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ddrji5c9a1q25ag/Sensitivity%20Figures%20on%20Some%20Receivers.pdf?dl=0

VLF with GQRX and sound card

hello everyone,

after playing with my sdr at 130+ MHz (noaa and meteor stuff) I wanted to explore the VLF world. I have used till now gqrx, and I really love it.

One thing to say is that I'm on Linux so unless some of you know a way to properly use sdr# on it just lemme know.

And it's from sdr# that I got this problem: I've seen a lot of posts and videos about using the internal sound card into sdr# for VLF but I really don't see any way to use it in GQRX. It doesn't show up in the input device list and I couldn't find anything googling around.

Now, before I buy a VLF capable sdr, is there a way to use my sound card in gqrx? am I missing some required library to do so?

thx in advance!

RTL-SDR Discussion • Identifying a Device’s Transmisssion Frequency

I have a RTL2838 from rtl-sdr. I would like to identify the frequency a particular device is transmitting on. My initial idea is to use the rtl_power command and move the device away (10 to 20 miles) from the PC with the dongle is attached and look for frequencies that show a power reduction.

Is this a sensible method?

Is there an easier way to accomplish this goal?

If rtl_power is the right way, any suggestions as to the correct command parameters to scan the whole range available on this device effectively for this task?

Thanks in advance for your help!
