If I recall correctly 1.22 was the first and only version with ExtIO capability but don't hold me to that.

GOES-16 - strange decode results and some questions

Finally got a mostly usable signal from my dish (the usual 2.4G grid, with the modification, arrow up). Have the SAWBird Goes+ directly connected to the antenna feed, and the AirSpy R2 directly on that. LNA is bias-tee powered, and runs into a Raspberry Pi 3. Raspberry connects to my WiFi and the whole thing sits basically next to the dish.

I have now managed to arrive at a VIT between 200 and about 450, however i have yet to encounter consistently good reception:


Now, this may just be the antenna alignment, but i wonder about the stuff that DOES get decoded:


Why do i have these groups of rows that are apparently not having any new info? Is this how packet loss manifests itself?

Right now i'm seeing plenty of dropped packets, even though i have moments where it counts the packets for a few seconds.


The processing setup is a bit different than usual, because i tasked the Raspberry with only goesrecv, and run goesproc on a linux workstation, hoping to save processing power on the Pi.

But even when running goesproc on the Pi, i get the same results.

Additional questions: I only seem to receive some m1 images (see above). No FD images are being decoded. Is there any documentation on expected behavior during decoding, like how many images to expect within a given time frame, how they get processed, and how to detect and solve problems along the processing chain?

No luck at all with NOAA weather satellites

What could I be doing wrong? I know it's probably not too easy to answer, but I've been doing everything "right" according to every guide I've read so far with no luck. I'm using an RTL-SDR blog dongle, with the included antenna, tuned to 137mhz set up as a v-dipole. I run SDR#, tune to whatever frequency I need to for whichever satellite I'm trying to pull from, and don't even see anything come up on the waterfall. The only "decent" result I got in wxtoimg is just static (snow) with only the tiniest sliver of land (only visible after turning on false color). It always seems to be cloudy out when I try to do this (astronomer's luck!) however last night I tried it when it was perfectly clear out, and got the "usual" results. I don't know if clouds or it being night time make any difference. Could it be a setting in SDR# that I have wrong?

Receiving images from weather satellites is really the only reason I got this dongle, although funnily enough it's the only thing that I can't seem to do lol (I've had lots of luck with ADS-B and ACARS, among other things).

Does your MSi.SDR works ok at 10 MHz sample rate?
When I switch to 10 MHz on my one, the noise floor starts to jumps like crazy, and I hear some pulses and highly distorted sounds.
Other sample rate frequencies (2,5,6,7,8,9 MHz) works ok (noise floor doesn't jumps).
But crackle pulses (for example at LO = 6'000'000 kHz) are present at any sample rate. :cry:

May be someone knows - Is it possible to fix it with some element replacement?

I already fixed it a week ago, just forgot to upload. :oops:

Updated version. rtlsdr.dll recompiled with statically linked libraries. Now it doesn't requires VC runtime libraries.

This is the same v1.1.1.5. It just includes a new version of rtlsdr.dll, which will works even if VC runtime libraries are not installed on your machine.

You can also use this rtlsdr.dll with SDR#. If you have problems with running RTLSDR on a new motherboards with USB3 controllers, this issue should be fixed in this rtlsdr.dll build.

Did I miss a step somewhere?
This is because I compiled rtlsdr.dll with dynamic runtime. It requires Visual C runtime libraries, so there is need to install vcredist package.

I recompiled rtlsdr.dll with static linking, so now it doesn't requires external libraries. Try this one.
This is the same ExtIO_RTLSDR# v1.1.1.5, but rtlsdr.dll is recompiled to work on machines, where Visual C runtime is not installed.

Issues with Sorcerer v 1.0.1 audio loopback

Has anyone had any problems using sorcerer 1.0.1 in win10? I know that the audio loopback works, audacity can record fine, but sorcerer does not. Not sure what other programs are out there or even what fixes are.
