Need help identifying annoying noise

Hello everybody!

I am somehow new to using RTL-SDR to connecting to satellites. My objective now is getting a clear picture from all the satelites in the 137MHz band (NOAA 15, 18, 19 and Meteor M2). Mi problem is that, when trying to obtain images from both NOAA 18 and Meteor M2 (they are very close in frequency), I see the following noise that basically destroys all the information:

https://imgur.com/a/eTI4dmW

They seem like two different type of noise. While the first one (the multiple vertical lines) only appears periodically, the second one is always there. It is because of that interference that I do not get good images from these two satellites (see for a NOAA 18 attempt)

My setup:

-Double Cross DIpole antenna (with RG-58 coax and ferrite beads)

-Nooelec NESDR SMArTee (RTL2832U based)

-1,5m USB extension with ferrite beads

-Microsoft surface laptop

Sometimes I also add a 430MHZ lowpass filter I had lying ariound, but it does not make a lot of difference.

I use this setup in a place with almost no noise (the top of a cape). There is almost no cell phone signal and of corse no WiFis or so. There are no antennas nearby. I have a perfect view of all the sky in 360º, no trees nearby neither. When trying to connect to the satellites, I place all the electronic devices (laptop, phone, smartwatch) in airplane mode.

I have succesfully received NOAA 15 images such as these ones https://imgur.com/a/oix7t0a , so it should not be a problem with the antenna or setup.

Could anyone suggest any advice on how to identify the source of this noise or solve this problem?

Thank you in advance.

digital modes. how do i identify and decode them?

I frequently see digital modes in use and i would like to decode them. What software do you recommend for decoding multiple different modes? (Windows) And where can i find a list i can use to identify different modes? I havent had much success in finding a simple and short list.

How can I read the intensity of a signal on RTL-SDR using python?

Hey there! I'm making a prototype for a radio telescope, the robotics are all controlled by python and now I need to read the intensity of a signal on a certain frequency using it, how can I do that?

Comment on New Products in Store: RadarBox ADS-B Bundle Including Outdoor ADS-B Antenna and ADS-B Optimized RTL-SDR Dongle by David C Jackson

I currently have this bundle, being a feeder for RadarBox and their ADS-B dongle works really well over using a standard (non-filtered, non-amplified) dongle. I saw a definite and measurable improvement in both range and messages received. It’s hard for me to comment too much on the antenna as I’ve got it mounted in a very sub-optimal position (outdoors, approx. 5′ AGL, with housing obstruction) but at that level, it seems to have less range than another antenna I have (a 4/6dBi 698-2700 MHz omni [cell booster antenna]) mounted at about 7 feet AGL outdoors). It’s my understanding the antenna is designed to receive well with a good view of the horizon (i.e. needs to be mounted as high as possible) so if someone with it mounted properly could comment, I’d love to hear your experiences.

great! you solved the problem.
