Здравствуйте.

При декодировании в логах много ошибок, речь слышно, но часто выпадают буквы и целые слова. Трудно понять что говорят.

Hello.
I'm having similar problem.
I am trying to measure the power on a specific VHF channel with 18 KHz bandwidth at 144.900 MHz (using it to compare antennas)

I use this command:
$ rtl_power -f 144891K:144909K:18K -g 10 -i 1

I get these results every second:
2019-06-13, 18:36:38, 144891000, 144909000, 9000.00, 761670, -12.65, -12.65, -12.65

Since I am asking for 18KHz bin, why does it produce three columns of results?

Try checking your consumer laws. As advertised, fit for purpose etc. Too many of these people are making untrue claims, outright lies and selling shoddy devices. As for warranty, the law dictates what is reasonably expected, not the sheister selling it.

If it is advertised as being useable dowj to 100khz but is deaf as a post below 700mhz that is clearly illegal under just about every western countries consumer/advertising laws. Bloody report them and take action. I am so fedup with consumers putting up with such things and being used to fix problems tge makers should have damn well sorted before release.

Over on YouTube OLHZN High Altitude Balloons has posted a very entertaining video showing how to use an RTL-SDR and small grid dish antenna to track and recover a fallen weather balloon and its radiosonde. OLHZN writes:

Narrow IF detected! (Troubleshooting help)

I'd say that my setup is fairly good at APT reception (save for the rtl_fm dropouts that I am still trying to debug) but one issue that I have yet to rid myself of is that on certain passes of NOAA weather sats, wxtoimg refuses to decode the recording. Listening to the recording myself, it sounds like a great pass, but for some odd reason, wxtoimg hates it. The exact error message I get is:

wxtoimg: warning: Narrow IF bandwidth (purchase upgrade key!), low S/N, or volume too high

Now, I'd gladly upgrade, if that were still a thing, but the author of wxtoimg has clearly abandoned the project. Trying to decipher a pattern of when wxtoimg decides it wants to decode or not, I'm unable to determine why it does what it does. I've messed with my gain values, messed with samplerates, tried using sox to apply gain or mess with the volume of the wav file, with little success. I've had good passes with a max elevation of 11 degrees, and others with a max elevation of 77 degrees. I've had failed passes at both ends of the elevation spectrum too. It seems to me like there's no correlation between my pass elevation and when wxtoimg decides to decode. Linked are two files, one of my good passes from today, and one of my bad passes from today. Both downsampled to 11025 using sox, captured by rtl_fm with a samplerate of 120000. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated!

FT8 Reception on 40m and 20m with a Long Wire

After gathering dust for quite a while I dug my SDR (a FunCube Dongle in this case) out and hooked it up, just curious what I could receive on HF bands using just a long (20 foot or so) wire. After seeing the signals and reading about FT8 downloaded WSJT-X and GridTracker.

This map is after 5 days of running it on and off on both bands. Crazy to see signals coming in from other continents with a wire that is out my door to the back fence.

How can I get a better signal from METEOR M2 using the RTL-SDR v3 dongle?

Hello guys,

I've been trying to recieve data from METEOR for a few days now without any success yet. The signal is just too weak even through I just had an almost perfect pass which an elevation of 80 degrees.

My antenna is a V-Dipole mounted at a height of around 2,50m. I have already used this antenna to get some decent NOAA images.

I am using gqrx to record a .raw file, meteor-demod to demodulate the signal and medet to generate the image.

I have noticed that meteor-demod has trouble locking onto the signal sometimes and medet reports a signal strength of around -240. Medet even refuses to generate the image because the signal is too bad. I guess my radio hardware is just not good enough.

What can I do to improve the signal and finally get a decent METEOR image?
