Antennas • Who has a Discone in the Attic?

After trying for a few days,I have lost the battle to put the Discone on the roof. I know that I would get better coverage on the roof, but having an antenna that sticks 10-15 foot higher than the actual roof isn't going to cut it.

The attic is failrly tall (10ft approx) so I figured I could get it as high as possible. It would be better than nothing is what I'm thinking. Just wanted to see what sort of results you guys were getting with one in the attic. Has anybody had one on the roof and moved it into the attic? What sort of difference did it make? Also would keep it out of the weather and I wouldn't need any sort of lightning arrester.

Let me know,thanks.

How do I know which frequencies to scan for what I’m looking for?

My dongle is in my mailbox ready to be picked up when I get home, having never used one before and looking at people online using them I can't help but wonder how they find their channels.

How could I find say, police chatter or aviation signals, or personal walkie talkies? I'm currently in Montreal Canada, and I'm assuming that not all countries must share same channels...do they?

TLDR: Is there a site or a list somewhere that I could use that gives me a broad idea of what lies within certain frequency ranges?

KerberosSDR • Re: Android App connection error

I tried a co-worker's Android (Version 8.0) and the App is working fine (Accurate position and DOA value showing).
I'm now down to a third Android phone, this one a Version 8.1 (the other ones where older Android version) and I still can't get the Kerberos App to work, meaning:

1- Pressing the Target button will not update to my location, still showing in New Zealand.
2- DOA value can't be updated.

Both phones have the same settings for Data, Location and all other I could see.

RTL-SDR Discussion • Re: confused: spectrum analizer and sdr

Touchstone Pro from Nutsaboutnets.com is intended for use with the RFExplorer, it does support an RTL-sdr device and
the app defaults to the UHF Wireless Audio chunk from 470-600

I don't find my RTL at the moment to cert my statement as all I find at my desk is my Airspy mini and RSP1.
oh yes and my RFE.
However, they have the RF Viewer.. which is an RTL-SDR object.

But if your in the business, what you really want is ClearWaves.
good luck
