Finally got it working!

I just wanted to say thanks for all the help. I haven't posted anything, but searched a lot on here.

Troubleshooting Help • Re: RTL-SDR Saturated Spectrograph

I fixed it.. It was an issue with SD Sharp itself.. Had to reinstall the software.

Signal Identification Help • Re: Unknow signal

Wait, what signal are we talking about here?
I assumed it was the strong curvy white one on the waterfall.
Because the waterfall Remon posted seems different although they do seem to sound similar.

Troubleshooting Help • RTL-SDR Saturated Spectrograph

Been using my RTL SDR with SD Sharp for the past week and when I went to turn it on a few minutes ago, my spectrograph window is saturated on all frequencies and all modes (Quad and Direct sample)

I even tried disconnecting the antenna and I get the same thing.

I've made no changes to any software, USB cables, or anything else.. It just started doing this.

Did my dongle just fry out?

It's Mobitex:

I got dozens of these signals in my area:

About 15 years ago police and ambulances used this system for the data terminal+screens in their cars... It was all clear text back then when I used a 2-level modem on a scanner with discriminator tap.

Another example (not my video):

Thank you so much! So it is not a interesting signal. Or are there a way to decode the signal to find some interesting?

Other SDR Devices • Re: Why Tx/Rx devices are so expansives ?

The rules of mass production I suspect. If there was a demand for SDR similar to cell phones, they'd be mass produced and the unit price would be less.

First attempt decoding NOAA satellites (NOAA 15)

Okay, okay... technically my third attempt. Inspired by other hurricane imagery, I decided to see if I could figure this NOAA satellite thing out and generate my own images. I have a laptop, SDRPlay RSP1a, and an awful looking moxon antenna I built some time ago for 2m amateur radio.

The night before last I had an excellent ~78 degree pass from one of the NOAA satellites. I fired up sdr-console in the hopes of recording the audio and later running it through WXtoImg. Apparently I didn't hit record; or it quit recording. Dang. No worries, there was another NOAA satellite pass later that evening. This time I made sure the audio was recording, but when running it back through WXtoImg, it just produced a black image with some speckles of white. Hmmm... not looking good.

So, last night I decided to pipe the audio directly to WXtoImg from sdr-console (via VB-Audio). I really didn't expect to have much luck considering my first two attempts, so I just setup on the front porch where I would be able to grab the first half of the pass. I was pretty shocked when I started seeing the image decode live! And given my setup, I was really impressed with the results! A couple of the hiccups on the image seemed to have been caused by lag while running both applications simultaneously. I'll need to figure out how to get around that issue. I'm looking forward to giving this another shot sometime soon!

RTL-SDR Discussion • Trouble Directly Polling From RTL2832U R820T2

I am currently doing a project where I have to poll data directly from my RTL2832U using a microcontroller. I'm trying to set up the RTL by accessing the SCL and SDA pins, and poll the data from the IF_N and IF_P pins. I am wondering if there is an easy way to access these pins on the board? If I cannot access the IF_N and IF_P pins, could I poll the USB connection after setting up the registers?

For reference, I am trying to poll a signal at 578MHz.
