Off-Topic • Re: Where do you buy these tiny aluminum enclosures?

Only about 50 units left, but we have another 100 coming in a month. Don't want to produce too many at the moment because last time we sold these cases they sat in the warehouse for a long time with little interest.

Yes measures are in mm.

That could be the case - my bad timing :)

As to the current system, while it appears to work, all I'm receiving are local FM broadcasts. My antenna is an 88' dipole (it has a run with 46' of balanced ladder line, into a 1:1 balum, terminated into 50ohm coax that feeds into the RTL-SDR dongle.

Thoughts?

Are you trying to receive HF signals? You need to set the V3 to run in direct sampling mode in order to receive HF. See instructions at www.rtl-sdr.com/V3.

Software to get QPSK constellation plot

Hi all,

I have a SignalHound BB06 analyzer that I can get spectrum plots from, or straight IQ samples from in C#. I've been trying for ages to code my own costas loop to create a QPSK constellation plot. So far I can get "okay" results, but nothing close to what their software can do. I'm getting close to giving up on coding my own solution.

My problem with their software is that it makes a symbol decision and only reports the bits after this decision, I'm looking to get the actual constellation point IQ values. Does anyone have any software recommendations for this? I'm new to GNU radio, but I'd be open to that option.

It doesn't even have to be live, I can dump IQ samples into a file and have it processed from there.

Thanks everyone!

TLDR: I have raw IQ samples, sample rate, symbol rate, need to find QPSK constellation

Your "balum" is designed for HF. It's effect at VHF/UHF is probably unknown. Try direct conversion of HF signals and see if you receive anything. If you have a 2m antenna, try that for 2m reception.

Signal Identification Help • Re: Splatter, noise or ? 450.675 MHz

Probably not.

The restaurant pagers seem to ping randomly and are not associated with any periodic pattern. This makes sense because customers will have their food prepared at different time intervals (delays). Finally you can probably correlate the frequency of pings with the number of customers in that restaurant. For example the pings should be very frequent during a rush hour, but non-existent during night-time or the time the restaurant is closed.

If the signal appears periodically then it's not the pager. It's probably some sensor transmitting data at regular intervals.

Has anyone been following DSLWP-B?

Nearby burger restaurant uses 450.002 MHz (pager). Signal could be e.g. sensor which transmits approx. 4 times per hour?

Getting bizarre audio but correct informations) PDDR + ASTRID + TETRA (Belgium/Liege)

Is is normal ? Is there a way to catch the "keys" sent over the air ? I can hear some part of word, but still non understable... :/ (here is an audio recording...)
