Comment on Tutorial on using RS to Decode and Plot Radiosondes by Happysat

DxlAPRS can decode multiple sonde’s with a single dongle in the same 2MHz range (RTL-SDR).
Its kinda inconvenient to add a dongle for every sonde..especially on device’s like Raspberries in the field..

With Local APRS i mean connection to my local APRS server on not connected to internet.
AutoRX send’s a data string and disconnects , connecting again and then not sending any data at all, other clients didnt have a problem.

Oziplotter is a nice solution for windows only indeed, the chasemapper looks promising!
Looking forward to it 😉

I have something for you guys :) Any ideas?

Antennas • Re: HF Antenna for balcony

Go for a mag loop is you can afford it. Miniwhips don't work well in urban environments (especially apartments) unless you can really get them outside on the roof and up high. Otherwise you'll only pick up noise. You also need to have a very good ground connection via a grounding stake, which might be hard to do from an apartment building. Better to just use a long wire antenna if you can't set the miniwhip up properly.

Signal Identification Help • Re: HF Signal like Radio!?

Other formats that sound the same? Not that I know of. But look through the HF section on sigidwiki, and play any that have squarish looking waterfalls.

Signal Identification Help • Re: Baofeng signal

The other signal might be coming from a powerful repeater, which has transmit strength many times higher than what the baofeng can put out.

Try another TV program ProgDVB instead.

Troubleshooting Help • Re: New plutosdr has a constant signal and can’t receive strong signal that v3 dongle can with the same antenna

The PlutoSDR doesn't work that well above 3MSPS. It supports higher bandwidths, but presumably only via the onboard FPGA which has enough power to process the data.

The middle line is probably just the DC spike.

From my experience, Ethernet over power line got lots of disturb from the various domestic appliances...
The modern ethernet over powerline adapters are quite tolerant appliances, but they do absolutely destroy any HF shortwave reception in the neighboring vicinity.

Did you install the RTL-SDR drivers?

Troubleshooting Help • Re: ubuntu 16.04 and gnu radio: only noise

Hello friend.

I see in your GNRC, it found the RafaelMicro RTL.

What is happening to me is my GNRC says: "FATAL: Not supported devices found to pick from". But, if I try to put your code in the terminal I can hear the radio as you can.

I think this is a problem with the installation of the drivers, but I don't know what to do.

The steps I follow with the installation (I have Ubuntu 16.04 LTS) were:

1. Install gnuradio.
2. Install Xenial Xerius specifications.
3. Install gr-osmosdr to enable the features of the chip.
4. Blacklist of the default driver provided by the kernel: sudo modprobe -r dvb_usb_rtl28xxu

Knowing you work on Ubuntu 16.04, can you help me with my problem?
