GNU Radio flowgraphs for Meteor M2 LRPT

I spent a couple weeks working in GNU Radio making a flow graph that could demodulate the Meteor M2 signal to get an .s file that the AMIGOS decoder could use to generate an RGB LRPT image. I finally got it working. The repository instructions should be clear enough, if not just ask me how to use it. I have tested it successful 3 times.

This method is the most simplified way to decode Meteor M2 satellite passes..

This is by far the easiest way to decode M2 passes that I know of..

I received this image this afternoon using IZ5RZR windows package..

http://www.caturegli.it/index1.html can be downloaded here.. password is IZ5RZR.

Download -> May 2015 - new package with QPSK Plugin

when you extract the zip file.. you will see SDR sharp file in that folio.. If you have had a dongle working all ready just need to run it and change the frequency to 137.9000.. (may have to set ppm).

then for the QPSK plug in.. check mark the demodulator box..

When the sat is within view, go back into the folder you downloaded (Sdrsharp qpsk IZ5RZR) and run the LRPTonLineDecoderStart.bat file and your recording will begin as soon as the decoder locks on to the signal... Just click stop when it is done.. and the image will be in that same folder.!!! Sooo much more simpler than converting and fiddle fucking around!!!

I used Smoth Meteor software to rectify the image after it was decoded to square it up...

(The image is of the Central US and Canada.. and the Great Lakes are under the clouds.. good shot of the Missouri River Valley..)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpLsg6sSsuc is a visual of it..

Comment on New TETRA Trunk Tracker for use with SDR# and the TETRA Demodulator Plugin by Hennie

I am using tetra_trunk_tracker_simple.exe and I am holding 1 group. This is working very well for a while but now and than I see the following error:

System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
bij SDRSharp.Tetra.NetInfoWindow.UpdateTextBox(List`1 rawData)
bij SDRSharp.Tetra.TetraPanel.TimerGui_Tick(Object sender, EventArgs e)
bij System.Windows.Forms.Timer.OnTick(EventArgs e)
bij System.Windows.Forms.Timer.TimerNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m)
bij System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)

I use the simple version because when I open 2 times SDR I get an error on “net remote”, port already opened. This makes sense since a port can be opened only once. How to solve these problems?

Comment on Tutorial on Setting up OP25 for P25 Phase 2 Digital Voice Decoding by Rob Dale

Small error correction off the top… Most police departments are analog and are not changing anytime soon. A good number are P25 Phase I. Some are Phase 2. More will be shifting up with time, but clearly P25 Phase II is in the minority now.

Troubleshooting Help • latest sdr# doesn’t work with my v3 dongle

Hi, I'm having some problems. I have an older version of sdr#, verison, and it works fine, however when I run the latest version it doesn't work. I try to select the device but no device can be selected.

Am I doing something wrong? the drivers are ok, I've rebooted the pc, tried both x86 and x64 versions of sdr#, reinstalled zadig 2.3 drivers and still doesn't work with the latest version. It does work with version 1457 so I think this is not really a driver problem.

I'm running windows 7 64bit. Maybe it only works with windows 10 now?

Comment on Quick Start Guide by admin

Did you follow the quickstart guide? Specifically it sounds like you didn’t run install-rtlsdr.bat (step 5). That error usually comes from not running the bat file.

Thank you for testing.

This IQ base band sample was just for testing if the volume got louder at your setup. Due to the crashing recording plugin I wasn't able to make a recording to catch the behaviour described at scenario 3 in my long post in this thread. However TTT is also suppressing those calls (good job!).

I found this regarding Net Remote on GitHub:
Method Attribute

For the Get and Set commands the method can be one of the following:

AudioGain- Volume <25-60>
AudioIsMuted- Mute <true|false>
Is it maybe possible to push the boundaries by editing Net Remote to go outside these values? I'm not sure if it will affect the SDR# volume. It can maybe even cause a crash..

My amp audio range is (lowest) -80 to 16.5 (Loudest)

No volume is usually around -45.

Not sure what 25-60db is in SDR# (That would blow my ears out if it where my amp settings)
Don't worry about SDR#. It doesn't seem to do it with other signals. Only when the plug-in is enabled.
Is it technically possible to let Tetra Demodulator stop controlling the volume and let TTT handle all of this? Just muting (not using the slider) like Tetra Demodulator does? Else Net Remote also need to be changed for this since it can either only be set between 25 and 60 dB.
Not on my end. It would require TSSDR to fix it.

If I could deselect the timeslots programmatically it would fix it.

OK, I looked at your sample.

I do hear the encrypted audio (with amp cranked right up)
Most likely it's the plug-in at fault here and not SDR#.

I would check your TETRA Demodulator plug-in version.
When I select (box checked) 'Config' > 'Settings' > 'Ignore encrypted data' and 'Listen only clear speech'
I do not hear the encrypted audio and PDUs stop appearing in 'Network Info' log window.

I'm using the plug-in version that comes with TETRA Truck Tracker.
If you are using a different version TETRA Truck Tracker should not every be working with it.

Only difference in network here is that there are 8 to 10 frequencies per network (MNC)
One is main (CC) which can have VC traffic on it and VC (other carriers) .
