The issue I have with SDRPlay is that I heard from other software developers that their device library either doesn't link or doesn't connect to the device on one or more recent versions of macOS or the latest Raspberry Pi OS release. Have they fixed this so that SDR software developers can write apps to use their radio(s) on non-Windows OS's?

I can confirm that this works for using two dongles with different drivers. Just change the serial number - nothing else.

Hi Jel .

Well my thinking on the noise floor is that their is two noise floors . One noise floor is in the equipment ( radio receiver ) . The other is in the Ether , meaning the atmosphere , sky , space what ever the antenna see's . Now the sun is what makes the noise floor that comes in from the antenna and that is around -120dbm . That does change daily . Their is a program called Artemis that has solar weather reports , you can get it at this website ( http://markslab.tk/ ) . The program also has radio signal recognition . Now getting back to the point , any receiver that has a noise floor lower than what is in the Ether will receive everything that is out their . Of course I have keep this simple , antennas , that is a whole other thing .

I have no idea of what dynamic noise-floor is and if you haven't found it on the internet , it may be a new buzz word .

If any has anything to add , go a head I would like to hear it .

To answer your about raising the gain , I don't know it's just the way it is . Now I use HDSDR and I keep the noise floor at about -120 dbm .

Why so much noise? Is it in the industrial zone? Here is the reception in RTL-SDR.V3 Antenna is an active mini-dipole.

Troubleshooting Help • No one signal on any freq…defective dongle?

Hi,
first of all sorry for my poor English...

I've bought a RTL2832U based dongle, it is a classic "yellow-pcb" dongle...
My intention is to try to receive some NOAA image, so I have build a V-dipole antenna, and connected it to the dongle..
Now antenna and dongle are in the outside of the house, on the roof, but I'm unable to receive no one signal...even FM station...

The dongle is connected to a Raspberry Pi, and I'm using virualhere to get the usb dongle virtually connected to my PC in my room...
I'm able to connect it with Gqrx, and all works fine...but there is no one signal, no NOAA, no FM, no APRS...
I know that my antenna is not adequate to receive FM radio, but a FM relay is at 1km from my house, so i can aspect to find some station in Gqrx...in range 88 - 100 MHz...

I've also try to set Gqrx to 433MHz and "click" my car key near the antenna, i can only get a very very small signal in the monitor...

Could the RTL2832 dongle be defective?
