Built numerous antennas for NOAA reception. All built good and receives signals good but cant get anything but static on an image.

So I've built a V dipole, a double cross dipole, and two different QFH antennas. All built to specs and work just fine with a good frequency response at the 137mhz frequency. However, I can never get anything but static images. SDR# is set up to adjust for Doppler shift and everything. What else do I need to consider to get a good signal? I've tried using an LNA before with no change. I've got clear view of the southern sky where the satellites pass. I've even double checked by using the AR satellite finder app to make sure there direct line of sight. The antennas are positioned in the proper orientation. I've been trying for a month now to get even just a little blip of an image but nothing.

I'm at a loss and I have no idea what else I can do.

Seems odd, was the SMA connector short circuited for a lengthy period of time with the bias tee turned on?

If you think its a hardware issue contact us admin@rtl-sdr.com and i'll send you a replacement to test with.

Are you remembering to close SDR# fully before running the bias tee software?

I know its been a month ago you made your entry.
Whenever I see that reg read /write stuff on rtl_test. To me , it means you've got low voltage getting to the dongle.
Plug it into an active usb hub.
I've seen this a few times...always the fix

You could try to RMB and run as admin.
You could open a cmd window and change directory to where this file is and type the cmd rtlbiast. Then be able to read the error.

I haven't played the direct sampling lately which I believe that thing is using when in HF mode but I remember some complaining of poor reception. So, make sure whatever app your using that its in direct sample I or Q.... NOT in Quadrature.
In direct sampling you don't need any lo shift of 120Mhz/ 125 Mhz.

If you still can't receive anything than Yes.....get a converter and use the UHF antenna connection in quadrature mode and remember everything is shifted up 120/125 MHZ. Depending on which converter you buy.

Frankly.....just get one of Newelects V3 dongles while your at it..

I live in Australia and just learnt about the Himawari satellite. I’m trying to figure out if it’s possible to do the same with Himawari that you can do with GOES.

Should have tested this before......... :S

When connecting a load ADS-B 1090 LNA the voltage drops to 0.188 Volts
The 5.02 IN and 3.32 EN Volts are present on the LDO

The measured 4.78 OUT Volts measured before was just leakage Voltage, Lna works fine when externally power.
To be sure i also tested with a 10k resistor to replicate about a 0.5mA load, voltage dorps to 0.333V.

So seems the LDO died before the poly-fuse RF2 opened ?
