Comment on SDRDue: New Software for Passive Radar with Two Coherent RTL-SDR Dongles by angiekmillerofficial

I am really loving the theme/design of your site.
Do you ever run into any browser compatibility issues?
A couple of my blog readers have complained about my website
not operating correctly in Explorer but looks great in Opera.
Do you have any advice to help fix this problem?

Comment on Transmitting RF Music Directly From the System Bus on your PC by Dave H

It’s probably just flogging something that’s requestiing I/O activity – playing an inaudible sound, sending network packets, something even a script can do.

There have been several 3D waterfall implementations before,. They are cool, but I just think they're not that useful in reality.

e.g. here's one

An update to the above:-
Now I cannot even install SDRSharp. Plane Spotter is also not even trying. Dump1090 is running but nowt else. Think I'l go back to my Bearcat UBC355CLT scanner!
Have you scanned your PC for viruses/malware? If every program is dying in some way i'd suspect something like that.

Troubleshooting Help • Re: Help with Antenna

Make sure that the gain is adjusted manually (turn of all AGCs), and that the antenna isn't obstructed. If you're using it inside behind many thick walls or metal roof then it might be an issue and in that case you should try to get the antenna outside.

RTL-SDR Discussion • Re: SDR Internet

Look up KiwiSDR as well. Some examples at www.sdr.hu.

Airspy units also have the SpyServer software which allows for remote usage.

RTL-SDR Discussion • Re: SDR Development

Yes, but if it's just a decoder that you need something like GNU Radio and Python would be better suited.

For a general receiver in C# there is a librtlsdr wrapper out there. Then once you have that going it's all DSP code implementation, which can be gotten out of a good text book.

Comment on Homemade ADS-B Collinear Antenna by Mike

UPDATE: I built and tested a 1/2 wave collinear, same design. Drastic difference between 1/2 and 1/4 wave. In comparison to my Scantenna, the 1/2 wave noise floor at 1090 MHz is about .6 lower at 57.2 dBFS. The peak is rather odd to me. Generally, they average about the same at around 53.5 dBFS. However, occasionally the 1/2 wave shows peaks of around 42 dBFS. The Scantenna didn’t do that. I’m also able to see aircraft around an airport that I generally never saw with the scantenna. I still give kudo’s to the Scantenna as it does a pretty good job for being a wideband, general purpose antenna. However, at this point I have to say that I’ve had a change of heart regarding the 8-element collinear for ADS-B. 🙂
