RPi Project — make or break for my final course grading.

I am currently doing a course where my grading pretty much depends on if I am able to use two RTL dongles on a RPi and give a quick demo of frequency hopping communication.

I was hoping you guys could guide me. Thank you! I will have my RPi soon and a RTL dongle as well.

RTL-SDR and Windows 10 Creators Update

Hi all,

I asked this same question on the rtlsdr IRC only to be told that I was a liar and that what I am claiming is impossible, I assure you that neither statements are true, and I am hoping that there may be redditors with slightly more wisdom whom might be able to shed some light on my situation.

So approximately a couple of weeks ago, I was using my NooElec NESDR SMART with SDR#/DSD+/UniTrunker, sampling at 3.2MSPS without issue, I am certain this was the case as I would always switch from the default 2.56 up-to 3.2, and it would work without an issue of any kind.

Recently, I decided that for some reason it would be a great idea to upgrade to the new Windows 10 Creators update (Win10 Pro - Build 16299), and since updating, the dongle now registers as a single device (RTL2838UHIDIR) instead the two devices it previously registered as (BULK-IN INTERFACE 0 and BULK-IN INTERFACE 1), this seemed pretty benign and I simply patched the Driver to WinUSB with Zadig and continued as normal. The problem is that I am now no longer able to sample at 3.2MSPS and doing so causes massive under-runs, so I was curious to see if anyone else has experienced similar issues with the Windows 10 update or in general and if anyone can offer any advice/possible fixes.

tl;dr? Used to be able to sample at 3.2MSPS, since installing Windows 10 Creator update I am no longer able to do so.

In this video I am comparing three SDR-Receivers. I have made few recordings with every receiver with the same antenna and choose the best one (one with the best SNR = signal-to-noise ratio). My intention was to ensure the same conditions for all three SDR`s in order to make as fair as possible comparison. For example, I was set the frequency span displayed on the window to be as same as possible for all three receivers. The vertical axis for the signal stregth, was set to be equal (in decibels) too.Airspy HF+ and ColibriNANO was set to their minimum sample rate (48 kHz).
RSP1A was set to minimum sample rate (2 MHz and 8 decimation).
No DSP enhancing on the SDR`s was used except APF (Audio peak filter) on ColibriNANO (I forgot to swith off).

Troubleshooting Help • Installing RTL-SDR on Windows 10 Creators Edition

I have the latest Windows 10 - the so named creators edition, which is new from the last few weeks. I plugged in the dongle into my pc (not a hub) and windows recognized it and seemed to load a driver for it. After tinkering with the SDR# software and it doesn't recognize the dongle.

I installed the danzig driver and device manager see's Bulk-In, Interface in Universal Serial Bus devices. But that's all as far as I can see. My other ham related usb devices are unplugged at the moment.

I've also rebooted to see if that makes a difference and it does not. Also plugging into another usb port does not either. I'm stuck at the moment trying to make this work. Any help greatly appreciated.

Написал этот плагин как образец для проекта. Возможно вы найдете ему другое применение.

На данный момент плагин берет моно аудио поток после демодулятора без фильтрации, преобразует его в 48 кГц 16 бит и транслирует в таком виде на выбранный TCP порт. Плагин является сервером и поддерживает подключение нескольких клиентов одновременно.

Я использовал VLC Player как клиента. Настройки VLC:

TCP://127.0.0.1:20022 :demux=rawaud :rawaud-channels=1 :rawaud-samplerate=48000 :rawaud-fourcc=s16l

Если есть предложения по модификации этого плагина под конкретные цели, пишите на почту или в комментарии. Я думаю использование сетевой подсистемы более удобно чем виртуального кабеля.

Comment on SDRSharper: A modified version of SDR# by Bernie

This is an ignorant statement. SDR# is an original One Man Work not based on any existing application. This is not the case for HDSDR, WR+, SDRPlay’s SDR Uno (Studio1), all based on Alberto’s WinRad. There are many other commercial application who have never been open source and still using code from the SDR far west days.

It’s SDR# that contributed to the SDR community, not the other way around. Heck even some of the most useful algorithms in GNU Radio were stolen and GPL-ized from SDR#, like GR-IQBAL – without it, all SDR’s are POS with terrible images all around the spectrum. Who knows who else is secretly using SDR# code today.

AFAIK, no one contributed anything to SDR# when it was open source. At that time, all external patches were refused, which made a lot of people angry, but it also prevented SDR# from becoming a chaotic blob of code, like it is the rule for open source projects. The best proof is that is it still heavily developed today by the same person at a high level of quality.

It’s funny how the SDR incompetent companies like SDRPlay prefer to pay and acquire existing software like Studio1, itself plagued with copyright problems rather than develop their own software centered around their own hardware, but no one seems to care enough.

Do your due diligence next time.

I would love to test the decoding programs on sdrangel I can’t get it to run on my computer .The person that made this program made it so hard to get it to run , that most people with some software ability can’t get it to run . To start with why did he need a another unzip program , what was wrong with winzip that is on every body’s computer . When I went to the website to down load sdrangel I found six programs under it . Do those six programs get down load with it ????????????? now I unzip the sdrangel in the 7Z folder it show’s SDRAngel exe then when I move it to anther folder than it becomes becomes SDRAngel applications . When I click on it , It doesn’t load up , their just isn’t anything . I have never had any problems like this with other programs . This is why I bang my head on the desk and berate programmers .
